The maker

I've been working as a designer since the mid 90's and started my journey with a passion around creating things that other people would love and use.

For the past decade I've been working as freelance product designer and it was in a client meeting in 2017, when a fellow colleague pulled out a stunning laptop case in natural leather and wool felt, that I really liked. He couldn't remember where he bought it, nor was he interested in selling it to me, which led me into thinking that it couldn't be too hard to make one on my own.

This sparked a series of events leading me to where we are today. First up I sewed my first laptop case on my mothers old sewing machine from the 60's, which, needless to say, wasn't perfect by any means, but good enough to understand that I actually could create things I really would love and use. And when I showed the things I made to others they also seemed to like it.

The next steps of the journey included countless hours of trial and error, during evenings and nights, reading a lot of books, taking evening courses in leather working and heavy duty sewing, watching skilled leather craftsmen on Youtube and eventually setting up shop, buying a lot of fancy tools and expensive machines. And more trial and error.

It's been a lot of hard work and I can never have done this without the support from friends and family, especially Nathalie, Molly and Winston. ❤️
